Tata Steel not to keep blast furnace in operation
In order to continue its steel production in the UK, Tata Steel has to make some major changes.
According to the report from Tata Steel, it will not be technically feasible to temporarily operate a blast furnace at the Port Talbot site before starting up its new electric arc furnace.
If it has more funds, Tata Steel will build a direct reduced iron pellet plant. Currently, Tata Steel is planning to build an electric arc furnace based on local scrap steel materials and receive £500 million from the UK government in phases.
