Several countries ask to achieve exemption of steel & aluminum tariff from US
The US president Trump signed the announcement about levying steel and aluminum tariff despite the wide opposition at home and abroad. The tariff of imported steel and aluminum products would be respectively 25% and 15% and the policy would be effective after 15 days. In all the countries, Canada and Mexico has been given a 30-day immunity period. However, according to The Washington Post's report, whether the permanent exemption right of tariff would be given or not remained to be decided after the discussion of NAFTA. After Canada and Mexico, Australia was the third country who achieved exemption of steel and aluminum tariff. Meanwhile, as ally of the US, South Korea, Japan and the European Union were also positively making effort on persuading Trump to exempt steel and aluminum tariff for them.
